Our Guide Katherine was very knowledgeable, she gave us very interesting information about the Harbour's history, development, floodings. The facts about Elbphy's project and fulfilment were very exciting. We enjoyed this experience.
Christa 10 did a very good job! However, we didn't like the fact that we were outside for 45 minutes of the lesson. We were outside for 45 minutes, and that in cold November. The meeting point should be at the Elbphilharmonie and not on a traffic island!

Their advertising described a guided tour of the concert halls. Nothing was! Just the outside and the terrace. Tour guide came later, heated through the hour and was gone again. I threw 5 tickets out the window! Never again Headout! Unfair competition I will pass this on to the consumer advice center and tourist info. I could have bought the whole thing myself for less than 10 euros. On top of that the total chaos with the vouchers for the Franzbrötchen and coffee. There were beer vouchers that nobody wanted. Pure chaos!

Our guide told the story of the planning and construction of the Elbphilharmonie with a lot of humor and anecdotes. The history of the port of Hamburg was not neglected either. In terms of organization, the timing was very good. The only small suggestion for improvement was that we found the meeting point relatively difficult to find. This certainly had something to do with the harbor festival. Perhaps a more central location (e.g. directly in front of the entrance to the Elbphilharmonie) would be better for all those who don't know Hamburg inside out :-).

It is a good way to see Hamburg from a different perspective. We attended on a relatively mild and sunny day, which allowed us to take our seats on the outside terrace of the ship, from which we were able to take some very nice photographs. Contrary to the description, we were not given any audio guides in languages other than German, but since this was not our first visit to the city, it was fine anyway. Good experience, I would recommend it.

The harbor tour was very good in itself, but the Speicherstadt was neither visited nor was anything said about it. False advertising.

There was no instruction whatsoever re the audio guide, i was pointed to a notice on the wall several minutes after the commentary began , the qr code did eventually scan and i was the faced with a down load of 260 odd megabites which my phone could not cope with, its not an old phone. The guide couldn't have cared less , he didnt help , he didn't show concern at all. Even though he knew I could understand nothing . Very disappointed, won't recommend

The Harbor Cruise was cancelled on the spot due to dense fog. The booking was changed to noon at 3:30 pm. When we got there again the cruise was again cancelled due to dense fog. No more sailings that day. Ticket so could not use, would like my money back.

Booked the day before and tour, and the next day was cancelled. I was not informed of this so went to the site and was offered no explanation. Contacted the call centre: initially cut-off, no apology/explanation. Called again to then be offered a later tour. Also requested a refund but as yet have had bo response from teh customer call centre after e-mailing them. Tour also in German, no English audio so a waste of money and time.
The ride itself was okay - the speaker was not always easy to understand - finding the departure point was time-consuming, cumbersome - a cheek

We had the guided tour to the Elphi with Klaus on 03.03.2025. There were only four of us with another couple. We learned a lot about the Elphi and Klaus had many more tips for our stay in Hamburg. It was great fun. We hope that many more visitors to the Elphi will be guided just as well by the very likeable Klaus. A big thank you to him. We also enjoyed the subsequent harbor tour. The captain was very relaxed with his jokes. The day was absolutely to our taste. Thank you very much.

We really only stood in traffic jams with the hop-on-hop-off in Hamburg. Most of the time only heard music and only 1 or 2 interesting facts from a band. Sound was OK in itself. Got off halfway through and went to lunch, did not re-enter. Will never do a hop-on again.

The driver was very helpful and allowed me to get on the bus early so I was not standing alone. However the audio guide was quite hard to hear whilst the live guide was also going on close by. The stops were much less frequent and I found it quite hard to figure out where to alight. On this day there was also a broken down vehicle and we all had to get off, unfortunately no instructions were given in English and I decided to abandon the tour at this point.
The hop-on bus we had booked on the blue line simply didn't make it to the Landungsbrücken stop and we had to buy another ticket from the red double-decker to enjoy a round trip after all. That was also okay. The tour guide of the red double-decker told us that this unfortunately happens more often with the blue line - you can knock rudely if that helps. lg Karl Ebster-Schwarzenberger

A guided Elbphilharmonie tour is the best way to explore the venue. You will be accompanied by an experienced tour guide, who will tell you all about the concert hall and give you insights into its history, architecture, and cultural importance. They also usually include transfers to ensure a hassle-free visit.
A non-guided or self-guided tour is one where you have the flexibility to plan out your trip. You can explore by yourself. However, you may not be able to access all parts of the venue; for example, if you purchase concert tickets or skip-the-line Elbphilharmonie Plaza tickets, you will only be able to access those areas.
Combo tickets let you explore more than just the Elbphilharmonie — you can see the best of Hamburg or take a cruise along River Elbe. Combo tickets usually include logistics and the services of a professional guide, and you get to see Hamburg highlights like KehrWiederSpitze, Speicherstadt, and Port of Hamburg.
This 82m (270 ft)-long escalator gets you right from the entrance to a panoramic window that displays beautiful vistas in Hamburg in 4 minutes. The walls around the escalators are covered in reflective discs making for an incredible illusory effect. From here, another escalator gets you to the concert halls and the Plaza.
The Grand Hall can seat up to 2100 people. The stage is at the centre surrounded by terraced seating. The acoustics of this hall was developed by specialist Yasuhisa Toyota, who has covered the hall with grooved plaster and paper panels to create a balance in resonance and added a sound reflector above the stage.
The Recital Hall is on the tenth floor of the Elbphilharmonie. An intimate theatre, it covers an area of approx. 440 sq. m and is perfect for chamber music, lieder and solo recitals, jazz and world music. Thanks to its flexible seating and stage, it can hold up to 550 people.
With 150 seats, Kaistudios is the smallest hall in the Elbphilharmonie. Also called the World of Instruments, it occupies the second and third floor of the building. This space is typically used for educational purposes — experimental music, seminars, workshops, and rehearsals.
Nearly 40 metres above ground level is the Elbphilharmonie Plaza. The outer part offers an unbeatable view of the city of Hamburg and the surrounding River Elbe. You can enter without tickets, but if you want to skip the line, you need to book a ticket in advance.
Address: Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Platz der Deutschen Einheit, 20457 Hamburg, Germany
The opening times are as follows:
Best time to visit: While it is open throughout the year, the best time to visit Elbphilharmonie is from May to September. This is because it is during this time that the weather is pleasant, ensuring you can make the most of the outdoor part of the Plaza and enjoy the beautiful vistas from high up.
There are a number of eateries at the Elbphilharmonie:
Elbphilharmonie Hamburg is expected to open to the public on 10 January 2021.
Yes, you can book your Elbphilharmonie tickets in advance. In fact, it is recommended you do so, as the venue is extremely popular and tickets get sold out very quickly. Thus, by booking in advance you can visit on the day and time of your preference.
This depends on the tour chosen. Some tours skip the concert halls, while some take you to the Grand Hall, provided there are no ongoing rehearsals or concerts.
This depends on the Elbphilharmonie tickets you book. While some offer free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance, others do not allow any cancellation or refunds. It is advised you check the cancellation policy prior to booking your Elbphilharmonie tickets.
This depends on where the platform you book from. When booking from us, children under 6 enter for free, while youth and students get a good discount upon presenting a valid ID.
The tours are typically conducted in German and/or English. It is advised to check before booking your tickets.
Elbphilharmonie is open from 10 AM - 11 PM, the last admission at 10:30 PM.
Photography and videography are unfortunately not permitted during events and concerts. You can, however, take photos and videos on the Plaza (not for commercial purposes) and before/after events and concerts.
